From the Desk of Holly Reimann ...

Dear Reader,

Has the first week of school been a little rough, what can we do?!? Unfortunately, it's been a frequently asked question. You may have seen an increase in behaviors, old or new behaviors emerging, school not following through with supports, or the lack of sufficient preparation. I remember what I learned from Dr. Ross Green, "children do well if they can." Children aren't angry, anxious, or ambivalent for no reason. We have to ask ourselves, what do they need to be successful, functional, happy children? As parents, you probably know the answer to this. If you need some support to identify why there are issues at school, then you can request a Functional Behavioral Analysis from the school psychologist. If your team at school doesn't know the answer to the problem or knows it, but isn't doing it - request a meeting and you can do so at any date (not just a couple weeks before the IEP expires.) This is within your right as parents and your child probably needs all the help he/she can get.

Best,

FASHION SENSE 2008
A SUCCESS

Fashion Sense 2008

On August 20, 2008, Fashion Sense 2008 raised awareness & funds for local organizations, including challenger baseball, Dragonfly Academy and ASPIES of Akron. The event was held at the Bartram Conference Center and featured New York designer Juliette Longuet. Her designs have been featured in over 20 magazine articles and on display across the United States and France. During the Fashion Sense event, the morning included brunch, information session, plus door prize drawings. Immediately following, the fashion show displayed the latest designs by Juliette Longuet. It also featured children with autism in the fashion show who represented the various local organizations. In addition, Holly Reimann modeled a dress of silk chiffon in paisley print, while walking with a young lady with autism who showed off a princess paisley tunic made of silk chiffon accented with square sequence and silver pearls. The event ended with a champagne reception, string quartet and trunk show, when attendees could meet Juliette and try on her fashions.

Holly Reimann & Juliette Longuet

With special thanks to Zaleski Productions, and Laura Zaleski for her insight and hard work to make this event possible. Many thanks to everyone who made this first annual Fashion Sense 2008 event a wonderful success with many more to come.
