Early Identification
of At-risk Readers

When analyzed together, functional brain scans & tests of reading skills can strongly predict which children will have ongoing reading problems 81% of the time. Early identification & systematic intervention can help likely non-readers be capable readers. Now researchers need to determine which remedial reading programs will work best for which children through understanding both their reading behavior & their specific patterns of brain activation.
